Committees and Shoes

I got a new pair of shoes. Merrels, in pink! So did Oliver, He has lost something like 6 shoes off of 4 feet between March 23 and May 23. So Dave West (my shoer) put them on him extra tight. That may make it more difficult for his feet to expand so he may have to get new shoes sooner, but it should also help him to stop loosing them. Our latest theory is that he lays down and grabs his front right shoe (its got a bell boot to try to keep him from overreaching with a back foot and pulling it off) pulls off the shoe and tosses it over a fence into the Wente vineyards. Thats my boy!

I went to my first little commitee meeting for the LARPD arena project. I need to dig up some names and addresses of companies who may be interested in bidding on the construction or the arena.
I'm still going to use this as a place to keep track of when he gets new shoes.

Changes

Riding Oliver is going well, I even got to do a little canter with him yesterday. He's lost his right hind shoe. Which means in the last 8 weeks he has lost 3 of 4 shoes! I talked to Terri a couple nights ago. She is going to sell Hannah (aka Fawna) she just is too much for her. I wonder what would have been the result if she had found some better training for her early on. I hope she finds a good home, but it sounds like Hannah has gotten a bit out of control and hyper so she may be difficult to sell. I can't really afford to have her back but it is hard to know she's gotten into that condition after she was doing so well with me.

I volunteered to be on a commitee to get the Robertson Park Arena project under way. It should be an interesting look into Civic duty.

I hope I can get Oliver out to a couple shows soon, he needs the exposure adn he's doing so well in our arena I think he may be about ready for some walk-trot classes.

trot trot

I rode yesterday by myself. We did some real good trotting work and I did a little leg yield at the walk. His left side is very responsive the right is a bit more difficult to get. I tried a slinky hood on him, it is burgundy. We need to try to move his mane over to the right side for showing.

And we're off!

I started riding again last week. My goal for this summer is to ride Oliver in a couple schooling shows. I need to pick the shows I want to aim for. I had a really good ride on him last thursday and Kelly says I ride him better than she does now. I wish I could get out there more but with gas prices and school it probably won't be possible to do that until summer. We're going to wait until fall to start driving him again to concentrate on riding for awhile. I have to figure out how to make a foot rest on my cart anyways; my feet don't hit the floor!
